Haladi River is located in Haladi or Halady town in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district. The river that flows on the northern side of the village is River Haladi, also goes by the name River Varahi. According to the legends, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu is Varaha; and its feminine form is Varahi. This river originates in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. The fresh waters of this river is the main source of irrigation for arecanut cultivation along the banks of the river.
Other than its agricultural importance, river Haladi is known for its beautiful and clean settings. Dasanakatte river joins river Varahi form the eastern side. However, after the construction of the Mani dam near Masthikatte, the flow of the river has drastically reduced.
