Prakasam district (formerly called the Ongole district) is one of the nine districts in the Coastal Andhra region of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was formed in 1970. Tracing its history to the Mauryan Period, Prakasam is yet another lovely place to visit in Andhra Pradesh. This district saw the rise of the Satavahanas, Buddhism in the region and the construction of several stupas. Since, the district was ruled by different dynasties a distinct imprint on the cultural landscape of the district can be seen. How to Reach:
The most convenient way to reach Prakasam is via Ongole. One can board a train till Ongole (84kms from Prakasam) and then take a bus or hire a cab to reach Prakasam.
